I was at the Commanders v Lions game this past season and he showed up and it’s the loudest I’ve ever heard that piece of shit stadium. The booing was deafening. Videos I’ve seen of the broadcast you can barely hear it.

I don't know whether NBC was juicing the cheers during the broadcast, if their sound was delayed, or if they just chose very carefully where to put the microphones, but the booing was much louder on the BBC and CBC broadcasts than on NBC's.
Anyway, JD Vance knew what he was doing when he signed up to be this administration's designated shit eater and I hope he lives a long, consistent life of getting exactly what he asked for.

What you hear from a mic is very dependant on what's in their immediate vacinity and how it's mixed. Sometimes the crowd noise is the overall impression, sometimes it's just picking up a small section of the crowd. If you're getting the entirety of a very large crowd then cheering starts sounding uniform, like white noise. The more detailed it sounds the less of the crowd is being picked up. Sometimes they'll have a bunch of crowd mics and mix them together to get a more aesthetically pleasing crowd noise. You never know how they miced what you're hearing on TV.

Best hot mic pickup I heard in recent years was at a Bucks playoff game where this guy kept yelling stuff like "WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU LOOKING AT, REF?" so clearly that my wife in the other room could hear. They *never* muted him, I think because he was so close to the commentary booth. It was a hour+ of pure comedy.

I always preferred the CBC coverage of the big winter events to the NBC coverage.
They cover the competition and offer an occasional spotlight to the Canadian Athletes, whereas NBC covers the American Athletes and occasionally spotlight the competition.

It’s sad because the Olympics are for the athletes, and him being there only added controversy. The USA may have received boos anyways based on what the administration has done to our allies, but because he wanted to make it about himself, it was a guarantee.

Not that there isn't an infinite supply of examples, but this just points to the selfishness and lack of care for others by Vance, MAGA, etc. Thousands of people worked their asses off to represent the United States as an Olympians and these few hundred get to live it out. And JD fucking Vance had to be there when they walked out and they get to hear boos in that moment because of it.
There is no way Vance didn't know this would happen. Someone told the IOC, or the IOC made it a point, but the crowd was told not to boo because everybody knew it would happen. And JDs dumbass still said, "Nah, I'm going anyway."

I did appreciate that there was loud cheering for the US athletes until they showed Vance (probably on a big monitor that attendees could see like us home viewers), and it almost instantly turned to boos. I know those athletes worked their whole lives to get there, long before Trump took office. I wish the athletes the best.
