To be fair their mods work tirelessly to control the narrative. The reason why they don't care about the Epstein files anymore is because their mods bury things harder than... well... the Epstein files.
They don't even realize they're being so heavily moderated and proudly decree that's the one place on Reddit you can speak the truth. It would be funny if it weren't so sad and destructive.

u/bstyledevi 9h ago
Every single post: 200 comments, only about 20 of them visible. Remember that this is on a sub where practically every single post says "flaired users only." So this isn't "brigaded by the libs," (as they love to proclaim all the time) since by your own admission of your rules of the sub, no one can post there unless they're a "verified conservative." So it really is just a heavily controlled echo chamber.
What's interesting is when a post is decently fresh, go and check the comments. You'll see some respectful dissenting opinions, legitimate discussions, what I would call normal sub activity for a political subreddit. Then go back to the same post a couple hours later and all of that is gone.
→ More replies (3)25
u/Beena22 8h ago
It surely must breach some terms and conditions of Reddit having such a blatant echo chamber/propaganda machine operating. If you don't allow discussions and ban people who disagree with your viewpoint then it's not really a social networking platform.

Every social network site is moderated (and should be), but "Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?" Who will mod the mods?
Personal example: I got banned from /r/news for saying "If you hate billionaires you hate Taylor Swift." I asked why I was banned multiple times and got no response other than being muted by the mods. I asked again after the weeklong mute was done and got a sitewide ban for "harassing the moderators." There is a Reddit mod Code of Conduct and I cited that to them, specifically rule 4 "Be Active and Engaged" which got a response of "Don't quote the rules to us when you obviously haven't read the rules. Troll."
There's even a form on that page to file a Moderator Code of Conduct Report, which I did, and again got zero response.
The mods push their agenda with no recourse, because the admins don't care what they do, as long as they keep getting those sweet advertising dollars (and don't break any actual laws).

After visiting /r/conservative this year to see their reactions to the circus I think the most likely response will be some version of “he doesn’t know this is a racist”.

Looks like it’s posted there and the Conservatives in there are actually criticizing Trump over this. But that kind of thing usually happens. Soon the dissenters will be banned, FOX News will give them whatever talking point to use to defend it, and the sub’s opinion on this will flip. I’ve observed that sub for a while now and after every issue that’s bad enough to cause Conservatives to criticize Trump, the sub shrinks due to people being banned.

u/paranormal_penguin 6h ago
The top upvoted comments in that thread are being upvoted by democrats coming in hoping for a shred of decency from a tribe of bots, foreign actors, and clinically anti-social psychopaths. The vast majority of comments are excusing it or celebrating it.
Stop trying to give them credit. There is no line in the sand that Trump could cross that they wouldn't defend or cheer for. They will never turn on their own.
People need to wake up to the reality that if we want to save this country, we will have to do it in spite of them and they will fight it every step of the way. The failed assumption that at the end of the day, these people are human beings, has been a losing gambit for democrats for decades now. We need a change of perspective.

What makes you think his supporters don't enjoy this?
Generally speaking the average person is far more racist than you would expect. This is something I have learned in recent years after I met my wife who is black.
As a white person you might not appreciate racism. You might think it is something unreasonable that only unreasonable people do and since you yourself are reasonable and not racist then most people who are reasonable also are not.
That is dead wrong. People in general are very racist and they don't feel bad about it. I think the fact that Trump is so openly racist is actually very cathartic and attractive to people because it gives them license to also be openly racist without shame.

One of these relative's was going through a similar medical issue near the end of their life, and was sending me some SUPER racist DM's on Facebook every once in a while. They've just lost the ability, or willingness to hide it after a certain point.

Dementia doesn't bring out the real self, it fundamentally changes a person. I worked for a while as a CNA in an elder care facility. One of my absolutely sweetest patients was an old man. He was always polite, complimentary, said please and thank you, and was generally just very grateful for the care given to him. All he wanted to do every day was to get dressed up in a suit, tie, and fedora, then sit by the window and read his newspapers. Never said a mean word to anyone, never was racist or sexist. Just the nicest little old man you'd ever hope to meet.
But, he never had visitors, despite his records showing family living in the nearby town. So one day I asked a coworker who had been living locally and working there forever why he never had visitors. She said that before he got dementia, he was an absolute asshole to everyone around him. He alienated his children, his multiple ex wives, his neighbors, and his entire community with what an asshole he was.
So no, dementia doesn't necessarily bring out the true person hiding inside.

But this is exactly why Trump posted it. He's deflecting. He wants your attention elsewhere. He wants your outrage elsewhere. Why else, you ask, would he just randomly post such an inflammatory thing? To deflect.
Ignore it. Yes, it's awful. But keep your attention on what he is trying to intentionally distract you from.

He's trying to distract from the Clintons testifying today on the Epstein Files. However, we should not ignore this. This would be normalizing racism from THE WHITE HOUSE. Karoline Leavitt is going to either try and spin this as a joke or ignore it completely, Mike Johnson "hasn't seen it" and Stephen Miller will go on a rant about how Michelle and Barack Obama are un-American and tie immigration tactics to this post somehow.
This is completely unhinged and nothing that this administration does should be "ignored", it's how we got here in the first place.

I’m not giving him credit for brilliance or a master plan. Chaos doesn’t have to be intelligent to be effective.
Whether he does it because he thinks it’s funny or because it’s calculated doesn’t really matter; the result is the same: attention gets dragged into spectacle instead of substance. Intent doesn’t negate impact.
And that’s the point. You can acknowledge how appalling it is without letting it dominate the conversation or crowd out the things that actually affect governance and power. Calling it “just trolling” doesn’t make it harmless; it just lowers the bar for acceptable behavior.

Shock implies that we weren't expecting it. "Sudden" and "surprise" are key words in the definition.
This is not shocking if you're already expecting something like this. This is not out of character for him one bit. The only surprise is that he actually went there without a filter.
Appalled is the sense of being horrified. You can expect something and still be appalled. It can still be upsetting even if you're ready for it.
This is not shocking but it is appalling.

Sandbagging.
Bannon was right about flooding the zone. It's a political tactic that works far too well. The answer is to sandbag, to dig in and not let go of a problem.
This is why the Epstein Files matter.
They are trying to distract from all the evidence that Trump is a child rapist. Every question about any other topic needs to be brought right back to this one.
"The President posted to his Truth Social® account depicting the Obama's as apes which is widely known to be a very racist moniker against black people. This “distraction” stuff is such a surface level impression of what analysis is. it’s meaningless pop psych and at this point “it’s a distraction” followed by a “flood the zone” mention is like “shave and a haircut, two bits”.
Staying “focused” on the files in the media or asking questions about it does nothing. Has it ever done anything? He’s been known as an Epstein associating pedophile for at least almost 10 years now, what has it done? He’s also been known as a racist for various reasons, what does this do? All this does for most people reacting to this is confirm he’s an even more racist pedophile than they previously thought. Nobody is particularly “distracted”, not from anything useful anyway

He's trying to do anything and everything to distract from the ever increasingly loud and obvious stuff about Epstein. Pissed about this? Talking about this? Well, at least it ain't the Epstein stuff. Pissed and talking about ICE? At least it ain't the Epstein stuff. War with another country or casually being bribed in the hundreds of millions or billions out in the open? At least it ain't the Epstein stuff. Etc.

Apparently it’s "sundowning" which is when elderly people lose their marbles at a certain point of day because of circadian rythm/hormones/stress issues, they get more unpredictable and unhinged as their brains get tired I think.

I know what sundowning is. But I don't think his is *that* bad. I think this is far more intentional/him being bored and stewing about grievances and being petty. I am sure there's some degree of 'sundowning' impacting it, but I think it is rooted in who he is as an individual.
He used to send a reporter or something like that clips of his successes for decades after one sorta negative article in the 80's.
The guy holds the pettiest of grudges, is the most insecure human being on earth and can't help himself- maybe coupled with a smidgen of sundowning this is the result, but I think he does this stuff because of who he is at his core, regardless of his age.

This is the same Leader of the Free World that posted a video of him shit-bombing his own people. Nothing will shock me after that.

I feel disgusted by his behaviour every day, and angry that nothing ever comes of it. He is the world’s biggest most pathetic bully.

It’s the lowest of lows. Disgraceful but on brand for trump. It’s meant as a distraction. Don’t let the heat of the Epstein saga die down

I feel sad that he is so jealous of presidents (and families) that he again has to lash out like a child. He is an embarrassment to our nation. And just needs to go away.

u/jgonagle 12h ago
He is an embarrassment to our species and might just be one of the most vile people to have ever existed. He's a treasonous, corrupt, self-obsessed, fraudulent, child-raping bigot. I honestly can't think of one single positive thing about him.

Not American, but it seems like they want to promote a race riot. Their favourite thing was blm protests. If this happens again they can use ICE to tighten all the screws, divide and conquer.

u/PimpGameShane 12h ago
Whoever is waiting for a race riot, especially at the hands of Black people, will wait forever. Black Americans are done being cannon fodder for justice in America. We are calmly sitting this one out. We know we would be used as an excuse to go full authoritarian, so without saying a word, we all knew collectively to sit this out. Our little twelve percent of the population isn’t going to change this country. This is a white folks problem - a family feud, if you will. The sad part is one half of the family are abusive drunks and the other half are the enablers who make excuses for their behavior time and again - calling the cops when drunk daddy slaps them around but refusing to press charges when the cops show up. Nothing about any of this is surprising to 95% of Black people.

Who? He's not the president of your country. He's a resident of your white house. Nothing more. Don't flatter the pig. A president should hold himself to some standards.

Propaganda and racism have a history of depicting targeted groups as ‘lesser’ sub-human animals or vermin. eg cartoons suggesting blacks are primates and Jews are rodents. It’s actually a ‘Red Flag’ that a country is becoming more racist, genocidal and dividing its people. These are very sad and heartbreaking times for your country.

None of this would have happened if then US took care of the Confederates properly after the Civil War and, once again, if the US properly dealt with Nazi leadership after WWII instead of, ya know, hiring them and giving them pensions.

"You are a disgusting person, you should be ashamed of yourself, you are a fake news reporter who is trying to distract from the countless victories this president has given us. Plus it's a meme, ever heard of having a sense of humor?"
- Caroline Levitt literally every time he does something like this.
See? You don't even need to hear it from her, that is going to be a nearly word for word response anyway.

There are many of us around the world that are not A-OK with this shit.
That's why many of us look to America with disappointment and disgust that you would allow for this POS to stain the oval office not once, but twice.
He is a representation of a deep underlying problem that exists in America.

From outside US it seems your president is a racist pig.
We all know him to be a pedophile; is this supposed to be a distraction?
7
u/Ruthie_pie 13h ago
Yup. Anyone sane living here knows he’s this and him and his cronies have been trying to not only distract but incite a race riot for months.

u/ratttertintattertins 13h ago
Well Hitler did this too didn’t he, with pictures of Jews. It’s what fascists do. The important thing is whether we can get rid of him before he does far worse.
